At the beginning of 1994 Eddie Westergard identified the need for a mailing company in Cape Town servicing the specific needs of a predetermined market segment and The Finishing Post was born. During that first year Richard Wharton was approached by Eddie to join the company.

In January of 1995 Richard joined as Production Director and shareholder. During the first year with the untimely death of Eddie, Penny, Richard's wife joined the company and the husband and wife team become the sole owners of the company. The company grew steadily and by 2000 was firmly established in the Cape Town market as a preferred supplier. The company product offering expanded as well as handling a nice variety of products for international publishers.

During the start of 2003 UVP Holdings acquired a small shareholding in the company. Over the following three years UVP's involvement grew and finally during 2006 UVP acquired the full shareholding from Richard and Penny. 2006 saw the emphases of the company shift to meet the changing needs of our customer base and the changing business and political environment. Nathi Chonco and Ebrahim Petersen joined the company as directors and shortly after that Ebrahim Petersen was appointed Managing Director.

The next three years saw the company becoming more relevant to its customers and representative of the demographics of our country. Both Nathi and Ebrahim in 2008 acquired a significant shareholding in the company. The Finishing Post (Pty) Ltd is currently a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor. Ebrahim as Managing Director has very successfully managed to translate his vision for the company into action that has lead to the growth of this business.
